OUR HISTORY:

In early 1949, 34 devoted Christians believed the North Oxford community was in need of a church of their own. A tent revival began on a vacant lot near "three-way." Enthusiasm and interest for the establishment of a permanent church mounted in the hearts of those who attended and revival services continued for three weeks. On April 24, 1949, North Oxford Baptist Church was born.

God blessed North Oxford under the pastoral leadership of G. M. Crawford (1949-1951), J. P. Brewer (1951-1953), Guy Futral, Jr. (1954-55), E. V. May (1956-64), Jim Bain (1965-1976), J. P. Baker (1978-1981), Lloyd R. Humphrey (1982-87), and William A. Vail (1988-98). Souls were added to God's Kingdom, new programs were begun, and new facilities were added. The resident membership of NOBC is now over 1300.

Dr. Gary Richardson accepted the call to pastor NOBC in 2001. God continues to bless NOBC as we seek to follow His leadership. The current ministerial staff includes Associate Pastors David Bodenheimer (Education and Children), Fish Robinson (Students and College), and Johnny Flynt (Recreation and Administration). Impacting Oxford and our world with the love of Jesus is our major focus. New ministries are being born to enable us to do just that in unique and exciting ways. We invite you to join us as we strive to love Jesus and let Him lead.
