“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
1 Peter 4:10
To put God’s love into action and be disciples of Christ by voluntarily undertaking minor home repairs, small construction and “handyman” type projects for the needy, demonstrating the love and teachings of Jesus, acting in all ways in accord with the belief that God’s love and grace abound for all, and that we must be the hands and feet of that love and grace in our world. As each volunteer with the Flying Elephants has received a gift, we use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace. In the same manner and attitude with which Christ modeled serving others, we too should serve.
About the Flying Elephants:
The North Oxford Baptist Church Flying Elephants is a group of willing and able volunteer servants, both men and women, of all ages and of varied skill sets, willing to use whatever gifts each has received to serve others.
They undertake minor home repairs and other small construction projects primarily for underprivileged families, the disabled, the elderly, and others who otherwise would experience financial difficulty in accomplishing needed projects. Our focus is on decent shelter for those in need, whether it be through repairs, renovation, reconstruction, or preventive maintenance. Likewise, they take on church and church related projects.
The Flying Elephants are humbled to have been involved in projects across the state and nation. Some volunteers have even been involved with international projects! The most humbling and rewarding aspect of volunteering with the Elephants is seeing the effects of God’s love, mercy, and grace upon those whom they serve.
