The Senior Adult Ministry began in 1989 with seven members. Today we have a large number of adults participating in different areas of this ministry. The Senior Adult Ministry is for anyone 50 and older who wants to stay active and use their talents and abilities to serve the Lord.
B.A.L.L. Team (Be Active, Live Longer)
This organization has elected officers and meets the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the Family Life Center. Business for the organization is presented and a planned program is shared. Following the program a covered dish lunch is enjoyed.
“Peculiar Heirs” Choir
This is a choir that combines the Music Ministry and the Senior Adult Ministry. This choir meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Choir Suite. A wide variety of music and fundamentals is taught to help each person enjoy and understand more about music.
Nursing Home Ministry
The senior adults participate in a nursing home ministry at Oxford Health/Rehab on the fourth Tuesday of each month. The group meets at the nursing home at 10:00 a.m. and spends 45 minutes singing and visiting with the residents. This is followed by a luncheon at a local restaurant.
Senior Aerobics Classes
This group meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week at 10:00 a.m. The leader for this group had to step down for medical reasons in January, 2017 so we are seeking a new instructor. There is no longer an organized group meeting but some seniors still come to walk at the FLC and do light workouts in our weight room.
Additional trips are planned for this age group from time to time. There is no set schedule when these trips occur. They are open to senior adults and their guests. These trips usually are no more than four days but can be up to seven days.
